but last night i watched the first episode of "dawson's creek." and i can't figure out what it was about that show that had people tuning in to the wb so fanatically every wednesday night.
joey potter has strange eyes. pacey witter is a child with a crush for teacher. james van der beek — playing the show's namesake — can't act. he just smiles dumbly the whole time. and the actors keep spouting out words that you know they don't know the definition to.
they're too self-aware. at 15, joey should have never been refusing to sleep over at dawson's because something might happen hormonally. at the very least, not telling him about it. real 15 year-olds avoid, ignore and brood.
but, i was a freshman in highschool and was perhaps longing for the next "my so called life." and i got sucked in. so did everyone else. even my freshman year of college, people were having viewing parties.
