because it could totally happen. we're constantly dicking around with nature and dna and cloning and majorly exciting things. but a lot of them have consequences.
in the case of "mimic" (starring mira sorvino), science has created a better cockroach. it kills disease-spreading cockroaches and the world is saved from a devastating plague.
these engineered cockroaches are supposed to be sterile. but nature won out.
and the multiplied. and mutated. and started mimicking man.
enter, a huge cockroach man who seems to stalk mira as he kills people.
i felt something on my foot, but thought it was my pajama-pant leg (no, i was NOT wearing pajama jeans.) or maybe it was a shoelace as i was next to a shoe rack.
so i thought nothing of it. but unbeknownst to me, the biggest, ugliest, grossest cockroach i've ever seen was crawling up my body. because as i turned to stand from the cat's water, it launched itself from my shoulder and straight at my face.
since i was near a shoe rack, i was able to hurt it. but not kill it. it scampered off under my bed.
also under my bed was cece (since the suitcase was out.). i hope she's dismembering it right now. you KNOW it was there to mess with her food. and NO ONE messes with cece's food.
it's the first roach i've seen in my apartment. but i realistically know there are more. unless this fucking bugger is scaring all the others away. seriously, it was bigger than a south carolina palmetto bug. it's probably giving cece a run for her money. and we all know cece is evil.
remember what she did to that mouse at the old house? no? you don't know that story?
other cats? she chases them, catches them, holds them down and pees on them. dogs? she strikes fear into their very soul — by demonstrating on a mouse just exactly what she'll do to them.
what did she do to a mouse, right in front of a poor defenseless shih tzu? she held it in one paw, ripped it open with the other, pulled out it's innards and dropped them on the rug. she flung away the worthless carcass once she'd eaten the brains out.
then she looked menacingly at the shih tzu like, "you're next, dog."
what did petey do when he saw a mouse? he loved it to death. maybe he's showing the cockroach around the apartment RIGHT now.
